Sri Matha Cancer Care is a multi-specialty hospital whose main objective is to provide relief to those patients in the advanced stages of cancer. These patients have no scope for any cure for the disease. It is a free palliative center. It works to give shelter, pain management, nutritional food, and medical attention utterly free of cost to the cancer patients in advanced stages. These patients generally have short life spans that may be from a few weeks up to a few months. The hospital also ensures and delivers updated health care services.
Sri Matha Cancer Care was commissioned as a free hospice in April 2013 on a rented premise. It is located at Indira Nagar, Chennai. Dr. Hon.D. Vijayshree Mahadevan is the founder and Managing Trustee of Sri Matha Cancer Care. Under her guidance, the center has become an excellent model of a modern-day secular charitable institution founded for the support of needy terminally ill cancer patients.
The hospital’s noble mission is to provide not only medical care but also emotional support for indigent patients from all parts of Tamil Nadu. As a result, it serves as a free home for terminally ill patients. The staff members emphasize on the patients’ quality of life in their last days and help them to achieve some relief from their sufferings. They also assist the family members in performing the last rituals after patients’ death according to their religious beliefs.
Sri Matha Cancer Care runs on the donation they receive from Sri Matha's trust. This trust promises full responsibility for mobilizing funds to ensure excellent facilities for needy patients.
